Fairness or Forgiveness? Jesus wanted forgiveness which is never fair. Forgiveness meant life for us which brought Him, great joy. Romans 8:6 says that we can either operate out of an earthly mindset or one rooted in the Spirit that brings life and peace to us and those around us. Speaking in parables, Jesus references Himself as a lamp that should not be hidden but used to illuminate the darkness we had called light. As believers, we can see everything through Spirit reality instead of just the physical leading us to love in a way that our world has never seen. Don't conform to the pattern of this world but instead be transformed as God replaces your thoughts with His, your ways with His, and your life with His. Only then, will you experience the rest He came to provide!

Jesus uses parables to begin introducing the concepts that the Spirit would bring revelation after the cross. He introduces both the superiority of the new covenant as well as the necessity of it being new instead of a fixed up version of the old. The old demanded performance while the new provides rest. Which will you choose?
