If a google search is any indication, most interpret the parables of the treasure hidden in the field and the pearl of great price as being Jesus who was once hidden but now has been found. However, this doesn’t make any sense in light of the other parables Jesus was sharing in the same day. Who was the merchant? Who or what is the treasure and why was it worth all that the merchant had? We mistakingly believe that we found Jesus when the truth is Jesus found us!

The parables that Jesus shared regarding seed are profound revelations of the Kingdom. The seed of the sower, the wheat and the tares, and a mustard seed all point to the plan God had set forth; to do for man what man could never do for God. God’s plan was different from what we expected that we are even called the Sons of God, thanks to the seed Jesus sowed. Once brought to fruition, we are given seed to sow so that glory would come to our Father who produces the seed and the harvest!
